What it costs
Empower does not sell treatment; it fills prescriptions, so there is no membership, consultation fee or subscription to compare. No prices are published on the homepage, and Empower states that it requires a prescription to determine a product's price, because compounded medications differ from pharmacy to pharmacy. Insurance is not accepted: Empower explains that compounded medications are exempt by law from carrying National Drug Code numbers, so many insurers will not reimburse them. FSA and HSA cards are accepted. Returns are not accepted under normal circumstances, which Empower attributes to government regulations, though it says it may accept a return or issue a credit in limited circumstances.
